Why Alexander Valley
Alexander Valley sits in northeastern Sonoma County, with the Russian River running through a landscape of valley floor, benchlands and Mayacamas slopes. Warm, dry summer days give Cabernet Sauvignon the heat it needs to develop generous dark fruit, while marine air moves inland and cools the valley, helping preserve freshness and acidity.
That combination helped establish Alexander Valley as serious Cabernet country. Cabernet plantings expanded in the 1970s, including pioneering vineyard-designated wines, and the region became an official American Viticultural Area in 1984. Today, Alexander Valley is celebrated for Cabernet that can combine ripe fruit, refined tannin, balance and a long finish.

Our focus is singular: exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon shaped by the remarkable terroir of Alexander Valley. Cool mornings, warm afternoons, and meticulously farmed vineyards allow our fruit to ripen slowly, developing depth, elegance, and complexity. Each lot is harvested at peak maturity, fermented in small batches, and aged patiently in carefully selected French oak to preserve purity, structure, and finesse.
We do not pursue scale—we pursue expression. Every decision, from the vineyard rows we farm to the barrels we select, is guided by a simple philosophy: create wines of authenticity, precision, and lasting character. The result is unmistakably Montrose—rich yet refined, powerful yet graceful, and crafted to be shared around the table for generations to come.
The Estate

Warm, dry days encourage Cabernet to develop dark-fruit concentration, while marine-cooled evenings help retain acidity and definition. Diverse, well-drained soils across the valley’s benchlands and slopes are particularly well suited to Bordeaux varieties.
